The Belvidere Park District and OSF Healthcare have built a new Fitness Court for the entire Belvidere Community and a resident can now get fit at the new outdoor gym.
On Saturday, September 8th, At the grand opening, OSF Healthcare and the Belvidere Park District held a ribbon cutting which was followed by a lunch party. The fitness court is designed to change public space into a communal fitness zone with bodyweight training circuit. The outdoor gym has around 30 pieces of equipment with flooring which is shock resistant and could hold around 28 people at the same time.
Belvidere Park District’s Executive Director, Mark Pentecost said in a statement “We have a strong mission and core, we strive to promote an active and healthy lifestyle for all Boone County and Belvidere community members.”
Speaking on the announcement, Jarid Funderburg, a Strategic Philanthropy Officer for OSF Healthcare said, “There is always a door open for improving a person’s health and the relationship OSF has shared with Belvidere and Boone County over the past century has been absolutely incredible. It is providing an opportunity to individuals who perhaps lack the ability to afford a monthly membership. Regardless, every individual can get out and perform some bodyweight exercises and improve their health in turn.
As per reports, In Illinois, Belvidere is the first city that has received the Fitness Court. People residing in the city can download the fitness court app for free to learn new routines, compete in fitness challenges and also track their training progress.
